How to record well
Setting up your space
Five things in your space decide whether the algorithm can read you cleanly: an unobstructed view of the bike on a trainer, a stable recording device, ample light, a plain background, and form-fitting clothing. Get these right and the camera setup in the next section does the rest.
The trainer
Your bike needs to stay in one place while you pedal forward steadily.
| Setup | How it works for BFF EZ |
|---|---|
| Your bike on an indoor trainer (any kind) | Most reliable. You're fitting your actual bike. |
| Stationary spin or gym bike | Works, but you're fitting that bike, not your road or mountain bike. |
| Free-pedaling outdoors / leaning on a wall | Workaround only. Movement and reverse pedaling distort the measurement. |
Quick check: If you can clearly see your foot and hip on the phone's preview screen, the algorithm probably can too. If they're in shadow or hard to see, fix the light or your clothing before recording.
