How to record well

about 11 minutes Lesson 2 of 6 Section 5 of 7

The recording sequence

Once you tap Record, the app goes through three phases. You actively control only the first.

  1. Delay. The app gives you a moment to settle into a steady cadence before beginning the recording. The app defaults to 10 pedal strokes, but you can change the number of strokes or choose a timer countdown in seconds instead. The app counts your strokes or last few seconds with audible timing beeps, one higher note per stroke. Note: on pedal strokes, no beeps means it isn't seeing your pedaling, so check that your foot is visible.
  2. Recording. After the count-in, a low beep marks the start of the 4-second capture. Keep pedaling steadily until you hear the end sound, three ascending tones.
  3. Analysis. Automatic. Your analysis page pops up right after and your new recording will now appear on the home page.

Hear the beeps for yourself:

Can't hear the beeps? The flash on the back of your phone gives the same cues visually: it blinks once per pedal stroke while the app counts you in, stays lit while the 4-second recording runs, and goes dark when the capture is done.
