Quick start: Your first session
At a glance
This quick start is designed to get you through one full session, so you can fit your own bike. It leaves out the detail behind each step, so if you want to understand what the app is measuring or you end up having issues, we recommend looking through the whole course or any relevant lessons.
What you'll learn:
- Why fitting is a loop rather than a checklist and why you'll record more than once
- What to set up before your first recording and setting the crank length for the most precise measurements
- The order to make adjustments in to limit the amount of backtracking and get the best fit
- Why one change at a time is the habit that lets you tell what actually worked
- How to tell when a session is finished
What you'll need: your bike, the app, a way to hold your phone steady, and a trainer if you have one (highly recommended). Set aside about half an hour.
Before you start: Think about what's actually bothering you on the bike, and write it down in one line. Numbness in your left hand. A knee that aches after two hours. Nothing in particular, you're just curious. You'll want that sentence at the end, because a session that fixes a number and not the complaint isn't finished.
