Quick start: Your first session
Setting up the session before you record
Make a session
BFF Elite keeps your work in sessions. A session is intended to be one sitting: everything you record while working on a bike, held together in one place, in the order you made them.
Tap the + button on the home screen to make one. Inside it, the + button adds to it: Record Rider for video and Bike Measurements for a photo of the bike.
Optional: Fill in crank length
This step is optional in a fast fit, but recommended for those with more complex fits, nonstandard crank lengths, or those wanting slightly increased accuracy.
Tap the top of the session page to open the session, rider, and bike info. Length defaults to 172.5 mm, which is a common road length, so plenty of riders can leave it alone.
The app uses your crank arm to work out how big everything else is, so a wrong crank length scales every distance it reports. The move it asks for barely changes: on a 12 mm recommendation the error is under a millimeter. The readouts do: a rider on 165 mm cranks, left at the default, sees a saddle height about 30 mm higher than it is.
So leave it alone if you are on standard cranks, and set it if you are not or if you want the numbers themselves to be right. Measure from the center of the bottom bracket to the center of the pedal axle, or read it off the back of the crank arm.
Either way, the measured angles do not depend on the crank length at all.
