Upper body position

about 9 minutes Lesson 5 of 6 Section 6 of 8

The critical rule: position is the handlebar's job

If you feel cramped or stretched at the bars after dialing in saddle height and fore/aft, the instinct is to slide the saddle to fix it. Don't. Moving the saddle to fix arm reach disrupts the hip position you just set and usually doesn't fix the reach anyway.

The rule: Reach is a cockpit adjustment: change the stem or bars, never the saddle. Your saddle is already set for your legs, and moving it only undoes the work you did in Lessons 3 and 4.
