Upper body position
Your goals shape the right position
| If you're... | Likely position |
|---|---|
| Recreational, comfort-focused, or commuting | Upright |
| Riding for fitness or long, steady days on the road | Relaxed |
| Training for road racing, or riding longer and faster on flat terrain | Aggressive (if you can sustain it) |
| Riding a TT or triathlon bike | Aggressive (the bike is designed for it) |
| Riding MTB on technical terrain | Upright (visibility, control) |
None of these are rules. They're starting points your body and your riding will refine.
You watch pros race and want to be more aerodynamic to ride faster. You're currently in the Relaxed position. What's true about moving to Aggressive?
Explain this
Aggressive demands flexibility and strength to hold for hours. If you can't sustain it, you lose more to fatigue and inefficiency than you gain in aerodynamics. Build the flexibility first, and the position follows.
